A video published to social media reportedly shows a police officer throwing punches at a teenage girl involved in a brawl in West Philadelphia.
The incident happened Monday around 4 p.m. near 54th Street and Springfield Avenue, according to NBC10. Takeema Bundy, a friend of the girl, told the news station that a group of around 30 people confronted a family in the area, and a fight ensued. Police were called to break up the fight.
A video posted to Instagram shows the brawl playing out in the street. Toward the end of the video, an officer confronts a female involved in the fight. The girl can be seen saying something to the officer, and the camera cuts away before cutting back to reportedly show the officer throwing her to the ground.
The officer can then reportedly be seen getting on top of the girl and throwing punches toward her face. You can watch the video below. (Warning: Below video contains explicit content that may be offensive to some viewers)
According to NBC10, the girl in the video is 16 years old and in police custody. Bundy told the news station the girl was trying to break up the fight but threw a punch before the confrontation with the officer.
Police did not immediately respond to an email request for comment early Tuesday morning. But the department told NBC10 and 6ABC that the Internal Affairs Unit is aware of the video and is investigating.
