Those of us who write on the internet for a living are all too familiar with trolls: not those who post fair and thoughtful criticism of an article, but those who respond with needless name-calling and hate.
Usually, it's best to just hold your tongue and not respond, but New Jersey 101.5's Joe Votruba had had enough when he read the comments on an article he posted in August.
Votruba, a producer for the station's "Deminski & Doyle" show and self-described LGBT advocate, highlighted three New Jersey colleges that made the Campus Pride Index's list of most LGBT-friendly schools (side note: Penn and Penn State also made the list).
Disturbed by some of the homophobic comments – one called the list an "abomination" — Votruba filmed a video response.
In the video, he fires back at some of the nastier comments and also answers one question posed by a reader that was less trolling and more legitimate curiosity.
