Ventnor infant dies after unconscious mother rolls over on her

Investigators believe mother was under the influence of drugs

Prosecutors in Atlantic County announced charges Sunday against the mother of a 7-month-old infant who died days after her unconscious mom allegedly rolled on top of her while under the influence of drugs.

On January 3, Officers from the Ventnor City Police Department responded to a 911 call at a home on the 5700 block of Monmouth Avenue, where there had been a report of an unresponsive infant. Medics performed CPR on the infant and later transported her to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center (City Division). She was transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, where she died Friday morning.
