Though the 9,000 square foot Uptown Beer Garden suddenly shut down just a week after opening, it has apparently already been resurrected. Today at 4 p.m. Uptown was back in business, just in time for another week of Center City Sips.
Last week the beer garden was shut down by Licenses & Inspections for lacking a necessary permit. Today, owner Teddy Sourias cleverly maneuvered the nightmare into an improvement-focused hiatus.
He said in a statement, "Our primary effort was to restructure our space to increase customer 'flow' and get drinks and snacks in hands faster. The main bar was rearranged to increase open areas for customer service."
A new bar has been added and the main bar has been reconfigured for shorter lines, table service has been added and the bar offerings have expanded. Sourias and the Uptown team definitely get points for making the best out of a bad situation.
