The taqueria already operates a location in Philadelphia at 4229 Main St. in Manayunk. The menu for the Bethlehem Pike location, then, will look pretty familiar: tacos range in variety from cactus to oxtail, seared flank to the old standby al Pastor. In price, they'll set you back $3.50 for a "traditional" ground Kobe to $6.50 for the seared flank.
New to the menu, however, are hand-dipped, 16-ounce milkshakes priced at $5. Launch flavors include chocolate jalapeno and strawberry vanilla, with seasonal shakes added into the mix over time. The 1,200-square-foot, 20-seat restaurant is also BYO, with margarita mixers on hand.
The Montco Union Taco is the third to be opened by chef Nick Farina; Farina, who lives in Flourtown, first launched Union Taco at 712 W. Girard Ave. in October 2013. That location morphed into pop-up concept EAT before eventually opening as the ill-fated PIG pork emporium, which closed earlier this year. Farina also operated Verdad Restaurant & Tequila Bar in Bryn Mawr.
Look for the Flourtown iteration of Union Taco in June.
