On Saturday, UFC 189 will showcase two anticipated championship bouts featuring four global superstars at the sold-out MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
In the main event, the United States' Chad Mendes gets his shot at championship gold when he faces Ireland's Conor McGregor for the interim UFC featherweight title. McGregor has knocked out Diego Brandao, Dustin Poirier and Dennis Siver in succession, but he will be matched by former All-American wrestler Mendes, who has ended five of his past six wins by knockout. Mendes replaced featherweight champion Jose Aldo in the main event after Aldo suffered a rib injury.
In the co-main event, the United States' Robbie Lawler defends his UFC welterweight belt against Canada's Rory MacDonald in a rematch of a 2013 bout won by Lawler. On Saturday, MacDonald gets his shot at redemption with more than ever on the line.
The pay-per-view main event begins at 10 p.m.
