A 19-year-old man is under arrest after police say he took a shot at them in East Germantown Wednesday night.
Police say Azzaam Allen, of the 5200 block of Osage Avenue, fired a 9mm handgun after they observed his involvement in an alleged narcotics transaction on the 100 block of East Pastorious Street around 9:08 p.m. Wednesday.
Two plainclothes officers from the 14th District's Narcotics Enforcement Team approached several males involved in the alleged drug deal, police say. The males fled and the officers gave chase along Pastorius Street.
Allen allegedly discharged his weapon at the officers during the pursuit, police say. Three officers and a sergeant fired back at the offender, who police say ran north through a lot before heading east onto a driveway behind the 100 block of Tulpehocken Street. Allen climbed a fence and was apprehended by officers in a lot.
