Two separate overnight fires in Philadelphia left one man dead and a woman badly burned, CBSPhilly reports.

Officials are investigating a suspicious fatal fire that happened just after 11 p.m. Thursday on the 2500 block of S. Warnock St. in South Philadelphia. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire, which they were able to get under control in about 30 minutes.

The victim was found in one of the bedrooms. Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer deemed the fire suspicious after crews located multiple points of fire in the home, which did not have any working smoke detectors.

Another fire happened around 1 a.m. Friday at a high rise on the 6100 block of Morris St.

Officials say a 64-year-old woman on the eighth floor suffered burns to more than 60 percent of her body, including her head, neck, torso and arms. She was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the blaze is unknown.
