Two officers injured after car collision in North Philadelphia

Two Philadelphia police officers were injured Wednesday night after another driver collided with their unmarked car in North Philadelphia, CBSPhilly reports

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at B Street and Westmoreland.

According to police, the officers, who were in plain clothes and driving an unmarked car, were responding to reports of shots fired and a possible armed man. Authorities say a 20-year-old driver crashed into their vehicle and then ran off on foot.

He was arrested about four blocks away after a brief struggle. According to authorities, he was drunk and driving with a suspended license. 

Both officers were taken to Temple Hospital in stable condition, one with a head injury and the other a broken finger. 

The man faces charges of DUI and resisting arrest.
