Nothing seems to unite Donald Trump's supporters like an attack on their candidate, and Mitt Romney's comments Thursday, speaking from the University of Utah, definitely got their attention.
Here is a sampling of those reactions:
What we just saw is Mitt Romney serve notice on the American people backing Trump that they simply don't count. He ignited a firestorm!

Mitt Romney, please just stop. We get it, you lost to Obama and now you're trying to be relevant again. Epic fail.

Trump let his Twitter legions handle the counterattack, opting only to post some benign tweets from his own account about a campaign stop in Portland, Maine, and Ben Carson's decision not to participate in Thursday night's Republican debate in Detroit.
Perhaps Trump said all he had to say in the preemptive tweets posted earlier Thursday morning.
Failed candidate Mitt Romney, who ran one of the worst races in presidential history,is working with the establishment to bury a big "R" win!

I have brought millions of people into the Republican Party, while the Dems are going down. Establishment wants to kill this movement!

Why did Mitt Romney BEG me for my endorsement four years ago?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 3, 2016
Not sure about the begging part, but Trump did endorse Romney in 2012.
