Twitter was absolutely made for moments like when the Eagles announced that they were parting ways with Chip Kelly. While I think most knew that this was at least a possibility, the timing of the move was big-time news in both Philadelphia and the entire NFL.
Here is how people reacted on Twitter. This post will be updated throughout the night.
OK, they haven't tweeted anything yet. But once they do...

I bet you didn't have enough balls to walk into Chip's office and say that when he was your coach. https://t.co/yRmimwEbaK

So does Chip getting fired mean the #Eagles will call me tomorrow OR never again? Vote now!

And from my brother: Fletcher Cox liked Lurie's statement on Instagram pic.twitter.com/IcoacRkTmP

#Eagles did not tell the players that Chip has been fired. One just found out when I reached out to him for comment. "Damn. For real?"

Jordan Matthews:"I never had issues with Kelly. I guess it just depends on who you ask." @SportsRadioWIP

Hearing that Jeffrey Lurie had a meeting with Chip Kelly today that didn't go well. A decision was then made to fire him in the afternoon.

Im told #eagles owner Jeff Lurie had been getting players input on Chip Kelly. Obviously not good feedback on the coach. @FOX29philly

Chip wasn't lying. Turns out he's not the GM
— John Gonzalez (@gonzoCSN) December 30, 2015
My man Howie just stayed in his lane now he's back in the driver seat so to speak...
— Jamaal Jackson (@CenterStage67) December 30, 2015
Would explain why Ed Marynowitz also fired. Like chip, Ed had his disagreements with Howie. https://t.co/GlEfcG2pMB

Possible Howie Roseman could move back over to GM, but far from a slam dunk. Lurie knows this is a critical decision. Needs to get it right
— Tommy Lawlor (@lawlornfl) December 30, 2015
Absolutely shocked, Chip Kelly fired after 3 yrs! Guess Mr. Lurie decided patience wasnt a virtue! N-not F-for L-long coaches included!
— Seth Joyner (@sethjoyner) December 30, 2015
I don't think firing Chip Kelly was the right decision. #Eagles

Chip Petrino. #Eagles

Reading how all these players feel about Chip in Philly is why I'm thankful I/we get to play for a coach like Caldwell. #leadership
— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) December 30, 2015
Settle down, Dan.
Well I tried to tell you before the game Saturday that the game meant much more to Chip then anything. Philly is about playoff wins. Fired
— Donovan McNabb (@donovanjmcnabb) December 30, 2015
The questions? Even MORE Plentiful!! The Answers? Not so much!! #Eagles
— Brian Dawkins (@BrianDawkins) December 30, 2015
Chip Kelly cut D-Jackson, traded McCoy, didn't re-sign Maclin & gave up a 2nd-rd pick for Bradford. That type of ineptitude is historic.
— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) December 30, 2015
, Chip Kelly revolutionized nothing in the NFL. Everything he tried to do had been done before by other coaches only better
— trey wingo (@wingoz) December 30, 2015
Chip Kelly has two years and roughly $13 million left on his contract. He doesn't need another job.
— Andrew Siciliano (@AndrewSiciliano) December 30, 2015
For all the geniuses calling for Chip Kelly's head... Who are you going to hire? What's the plan? I'm sure it's better, right? We'll see.
— Danny Kanell (@dannykanell) December 30, 2015
Chip Kelly didn't even make 2016. Wow.
— Rich Eisen (@richeisen) December 30, 2015
Seems fitting that the Kelly era started with the Eagles torching Washington and ended with the Eagles getting lit up by Washington.
— Bill Barnwell (@billbarnwell) December 30, 2015
Really disagree with notion that teams will be lining up to sign Kelly.

Chip shopped for the groceries like he wanted, and they were rotten. The meal was crap

Not a popular thing to say, but I still believe Chip Kelly can absolutely coach in the NFL. Personnel misfires did him in, not coaching.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) December 30, 2015
Chip Kelly experiment abruptly ends. Chip learned that while Xs and Os not so different between CFB and NFL, football is a people business
— Chris B. Brown (@smartfootball) December 30, 2015
Can see Chip realizing he shouldn't be own GM at next NFL stop, if there is one. But can see why he wouldn't want to concede that yet in PHL
— Don Banks (@DonBanks) December 30, 2015
fwiw, i think it’s insane to think demarco got chip fired. he’s not good enough to get anyone fired. this was gonna happen either way.
— El Flaco (@bomani_jones) December 30, 2015
With Chip Kelly's firing, the longest tenured coach in Philadelphia is now Brett Brown of the 76ers, who has a 2-30 record
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 30, 2015
Just talked to Chip Kelly, disappointed how it ended but knows it's a results-oriented biz. Insists (cont) https://t.co/ADOmPJfiEE
— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) December 30, 2015
So this is the prevailing wisdom but I know of smart players who don't believe that to be true. Doesn't adjust https://t.co/FxYQhlt2WN
