Actor Jamie Foxx is probably wishing he was one of those other Jamie Foxxes in the Verizon commercials right about now.
During an appearance Wednesday night on ESPN's "NBA Countdown," the Oscar-winning jokester walked right into a basketball controversy that has been producing emotional outbursts from hoops fans ever since Tracy McGrady posted the following meme on Instagram.
There were a lot of people on Twitter who didn't appreciate Foxx's hasty cut.
Jamie foxx... I love you but if you ever put disrepeck on kobe's name like you did last night

Jamie Foxx must have been filming ray while Kobe was out dropping 40 or more on all 30 NBA teams cause he must not have seen em.

Whose man is this!? Dog, stick to acting bro. SMFH trash analysis
You at least have to sort of respect Foxx's team-focused reasoning. In his later years, age aside, Bryant became a player who shot the ball far too much and arguably held the once-dynastic Lakers back from reforming a competitive roster. On the other hand, he led the Lakers to three NBA Finals after Shaq's departure, including a repeat championship run in 2009 and 2010. Foxx and many others are probably responding to the fresher memory of the hideous end to Bryant's career.
It also bears mentioning that Kobe is the smallest of the guys in this meme. Even in a league headed in that direction (just ask Charles Barkley how he feels), it's hard to turn down five of the best big men ever to play basketball.
Jamie Foxx better watch it.
