Trump's biggest supporter: Christie stays mum on candidate Trump's spew about groping women

NJ governor in NYC to prep Trump for town-meeting event Sunday with Clinton

Donald Trump’s biggest supporter, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, dodged questions about the Republican presidential nominee’s lewd language about women, including descriptions of actions which appear to constitute assault.

Christie, sporting a New York Mets sweatshirt, brushed by journalists seeking comments about Trump’s jarring words on a 2005 video, according to NJ.com.

The governor, who has not commented on the revelations, was in New York, at Trump Tower, preparing Trump for a town hall-style debate on Sunday.

On the other hand, Kim Guadagno, Christie's lieutenant governor, has harshly criticized Trump.

The presidential candidate had canceled a Wisconsin campaign appearance after the video’s release, instead concentrating on the town-hall event. The town hall comes as more and more top Republicans distance themselves from him and some call for Trump to pull out of the presidential race.

Phil Murphy, a former U.S. ambassador to Germany who is running for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in Jersey, has called on Christie to quit his role as Trump's advisor.

Trump offered what many see as a weak apology for the language he used in a video segment release on his Facebook page and he has resolutely maintained he will continue on a candidate against Democrat Hillary Clinton.

As of Saturday evening, there was no telling what actor Alec Baldwin, who played Trump for the first time last weekend on Saturday Night Live, may have to say in political sketches on SNL.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton,” is the guest host of SNL.

No word yet on whether or not he’ll be playing off Baldwin as Trump.
