If you’ll recall from this past summer, Phillies top overall pick had quite the wager with his childhood friend . The bet went like this: If Moniak got drafted in the Top 10 of the MLB Draft, Abrams would get Moniak’s signature tattooed on his butt.
The wager was originally made back when Moniak was a freshman at La Costa Canyon High School, which means that he was a few steps away from establishing himself as the No. 1 overall pick in the MLB Draft. As we now know, Moniak made the cutoff pretty easily last June and he said that he would be holding Abrams to their bet:
On Tuesday night, Abrams paid up:
There is a flip side of the bet that leaves Moniak’s derriere potentially subject to a little ink. If Abrams, now a pitcher at Columbia University, gets drafted in the Top-20 rounds on the MLB Draft (which leaves him a lot more wiggle room than Moniak had), then the Phillies center fielder of the future has to get a tattoo of Abrams’ signature on his body.
The 18-year-old Moniak submitted a .284/.340/.409 triple slash in first season of pro ball, playing for the Gulf Coast League Phillies.
