A visitor at Cape Henlopen State Park in Sussex County, Delaware discovered a World War II-era explosive this week. And after investigating, the Army Corps of Engineers later found two more in the park.

Chief Wayne Kline with Parks and Recreation said a visitor found a "pineapple-style explosive" that was rendered safe and later destroyed, along with the two other discoveries, the AP reported.

Authorities still aren't sure if the explosives were used for training or were live grenades used by the military.

Kline said Cape Henlopen is home to many artifacts like this — it's not unusual to find remnants of World War II lying around.

There are even observation towers from the war scattered throughout the park, but historical items are usually only found by the park's beaches. These grenades were found in an isolated area near Fort Miles, Kline said.
