Three people charged in theft of Philadelphia councilwoman's car

Suspects remain jailed on car theft, drug possession charges

Three people have been jailed and charged in the alleged theft of Philadelphia councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown's city-issued vehicle and possession of drugs found inside the car.

According to WTRF, the car was found by Upper Darby police on Monday, one day after she reported it stolen from in front of her home. Police allege that the keys to the car were found in the pocket of one of the suspects, 21-year-old Taryn Caesar, indicating that Brown may have left her keys inside the car before the theft.

Caeser, 21-year-old Kareem Holland and 18-year-old Sabir Scott remain in jail on charges of car theft and possession of marijuana and prescription pills. They were unable to post bond.

The suspects face a preliminary hearing August 18. Online court records did not list their defense attorneys.
