Temple warns students after recent robberies

Incidents occurred near same location, police say they may be connected

Temple University students were cautioned by campus police Friday after two robberies occurred near the same location just off of main campus.

According to an email, a student reported being grabbed by a man on the 1700 block of Fontain Street around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The unknown male grabbed the student's wallet and ran west down Fontain Street, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Around 2:30 a.m. that following morning, an unknown male reportedly struck a person and took their wallet on the same block before fleeing in the same direction.

The suspect is described as being between 30-40 years old and was wearing a dark sweatshirt with blue jeans.

Police say the incidents could be connected. Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call Temple Police at 215-204-1234.

Due to the incidents, police are reminding students about campus safety services, including shuttles and walking escorts. Information can be found at temple.edu/safety.
