Temple University's board of trustees will meet with members of the North Philadelphia community Monday to discuss plans to build a football stadium in the community, NBC10 reports.
According to NBC10, the meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Temple currently leases Lincoln Financial Field from the Philadelphia Eagles for its football games at a cost of roughly $1 million a year, Newsworks reports. The university does not get money from concessions or parking.
According to Newsworks, Temple's lease with the Eagles runs through 2019, though the team has agreed to extend the agreement if needed.
Plans to build the projected $100 million project have been held up for many reasons, including feelings that it could become a burden for area neighbors.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, who opposes the plan, told Newsworks, "How would you feel if you lived in a neighborhood where you had young students who decide to party on a Wednesday at 2 a.m. in the morning, where they put trash out haphazardly or you have a neighborhood full of developers who are just irresponsible?"
