Temple University has been granted permission to tear down William Penn High School to make way for a new building.
NewsWorks reported that the Philadelphia Planning Commission granted approval for the 1333 N. Broad St. building's demolition — as well as approval for other expansion projects, like a new library and additions to other buildings.
Temple officials are not saying what the new building at the William Penn site will house. However, Temple spokesman Ray Betzner told NewsWorks that it'll definitely have community job training programs.
