Teenager arrested, accused of livestreaming car crash that killed her sister

Eighteen-year-old Obdulia Sanchez was arrested last Friday after reportedly filming a car crash that killed her 14-year-old sister, Jacqueline, and livestreaming it to Instagram.

Sanchez was driving the car on a highway in Merced County, California, when it crashed through a barbed-wire fence. Two 14-year-old girls, one of whom was her sister, were reportedly riding in the back seat without seat belts.

Sanchez was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence.

The graphic video reportedly shows Sanchez before, during and after the crash. Footage after the crash allegedly shows her slain sister as Sanchez reportedly says, “My sister is f---ing dying. Look, I f---ing love my sister to death. I don’t give a f---. Man, we ‘bout to die and my – this is the last thing I wanted to have happen to us, but it just did.”

Footage before the crash allegedly shows Sanchez singing to music and the two girls in the back of the car. California Highway Patrol Sgt. Darin Heredia told BuzzFeed News that the graphic nature of the video is being considered by officials to investigate whether the recording played a role in the incident.

An acquaintance of Sanchez said she saw the Instagram video after it had been live for 19 hours. She reposted it to Facebook, and it received 700,000 views before it was taken down by the social media network.

Sanchez, who was wearing a seat belt at the time, suffered minor injuries including chest and knee pain.
