Police say a boy is recovering after a teen set him on fire in West Philadelphia Wednesday night, NBC10 reports.
An 11-year-old boy was sitting on a porch of a home along Hazel Street near 60th Street around 5:30 p.m. with a friend when they were approached by the teen.
The 17-year-old boy was carrying a bottle of hand sanitizer.
The 11-year-old's friend asked if he could have some and the teen initially agreed. But he then sprayed it on the victim's torso and told him he's dirty, before setting the shirtless boy on fire.
The flames were doused in about 10 seconds, and the boy was taken to the hospital in stable condition. He suffered second-degree burns.
According to Lt. John Walker, the suspect was arrested a few blocks away. He faces aggravated assault and related charges.
