For the second time in as many nights, police officers in Philadelphia were reportedly the intended targets when gunfire rang out this weekend.
The shooting occurred just after midnight on Sunday in the Bella Vista section of South Philadelphia, 6ABC reports.
A pair of Philadelphia police officers observed two men allegedly smoking marijuana at the intersection of 9th and South Streets.
As officers approached the area, the men fled on foot.
According to NBC10, both officers pursued as one suspect fired at least four shots in their direction.
The officers were not hit and eventually arrested both suspects.
No injuries were reported and the officers did not fire their weapons.
Earlier this weekend, a Philadelphia police sergeant and a University of Pennsylvania police officer were among six people injured on Friday night when a gunman opened fire in West Philadelphia.
A female bystander has since died from her injuries in that shooting.
