Farms in the Philly area are offering sunflower picking and photo opportunities in September.
Summer is winding down, which means sunflower season is ramping up.
In Pennsylvania and New Jersey, sunflowers are typically planted between April and June. With the maturation period ranging between 70 and 95 days, late summer and early fall are prime times to visit sunflower fields.

Whether you're looking to make a beautiful bouquet or add an aesthetically pleasing photo to your Instagram feed, here are some farms in the Philly region that have sunflowers.

660 Oak Grove Rd., Swedesboro, Gloucester County
From Sept. 5 through Oct. 27, Dalton Farms hosts the Tri State Sunflower Festival. During the celebration, guests can stroll through the fields of blooms and pick their own flowers. There will also be family-friendly attractions and events, including a corn maze, tractor rides and animal feeding stations. Tickets start at $14 online.
158 Park Rd., Downingtown, Chester County
According to Gunther Sunflower Field's Instagram page, the sunflowers will be blooming starting the first or second week of September — although the venue does not allow picking. Gunther Sunflower Field is free to visit, with donations being accepted for the Believe & Achieve Foundation charity.
5500 N. Easton Rd., Doylestown, Bucks County
Hellerick's Family Farm is now offering Sunflower Days, and visitors can walk or take a hayride through multiple sunflower fields with differing varieties. Reservations are now open and can be made online through the end of October. Included with a $14.99 ticket is one free sunflower and admission to the Adventure Farm area, which includes dozens of family-friendly activities.
1631 NJ-45, Mullica Hill, Gloucester County
Opening for the season on Sept. 13, Hill Creek Farms will offer pick-your-own sunflowers every Friday through Sunday until mid-October. Fridays are free, but there's a $20 admission fee Saturdays and Sundays, which includes a hayride. The venue also has live music, a wine garden, playground and ice cream trucks.
65 Eayrestown Rd., Medford, Burlington County
The family farm has a self-serve stand offering multiple varieties of sunflowers for $2 per stem every day from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Jersey Acres is hosting a Sunflower Festival on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5. The farm also books private photography sessions amid the blooms and will offer sunflower seed harvesting classes in the fall.
133 Church Rd. Medford, Burlington County
Each year, Johnson's Corner Farm hosts a Summer Sunflower Celebration, when guests can join a hayride to the farm's sunflower maze and pick flowers as they embark on a "Sunflower Stroll." Time slots can be reserved online. Tickets for the hayride start at $6, and sunflowers cost $1.25 per stem.
137 W. Knowlton Rd., Media, Delaware County
Linvilla Orchards boasts 5,000 sunflower plants in eight varieties. For the pick-your-own experience, guests can pick five flowers for $11 when tickets are purchased in advance online.
931 Stony Hill Rd., Yardley, Bucks County
FallFest at Shady Brook Farm opens Sept. 13. In addition to admiring the sunflower fields, visitors can check out a corn maze, pick pumpkins and hitch a ride on a wagon. Pick-your-own sunflowers are available throughout September, according to the website.
