The brains behind the operation at Eakins Oval have a lot more in store this year for Philadelphians wanting a sampling of local food truck fare, refreshment and live music along the parkway. Fairmount Park Conservancy and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation cut the ribbon on an all-new installation, attraction and interactive design on Wednesday, thanks to the people at PORT Urbanism, a Philly- and Chicago-based design consultant that brings together architects, urban designers and strategic landscape thinkers.

Beginning Thursday, July 20 at 5 p.m., public programming and food service will be offered in and around Eakins Oval Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. until Aug. 20. This summer will be the fifth the city has hosted “The Oval+” – which features an expanded footprint and unique installation in addition to the movie and music nights, food trucks, beer garden and family-friendly activities offered all summer long.
