Siblings are typically viewed in terms of rivalry and competition, but what about the positive influences they have on each other?
Researchers at the University of Essex and University of York examined a "spillover effect" among siblings when it comes to intelligence. After studying primary school test results, what they found is that older siblings who do well academically play a huge role in the success of their younger siblings.
According to a report from ImageDaily, the main factors behind the spillover are the desire of younger siblings to imitate success and the wish for older siblings to serve as helpful role models.
Whenever the temptation arises to take something out on an older sibling, remember that they probably helped you in countless ways to develop the frame of mind that makes you capable of achievement.
