Storm leaves thousands without power, disrupts SEPTA Regional Rail

Thousands of PECO customers were left without power Wednesday evening as a powerful storm swept through the Delaware Valley and caused disruptions to SEPTA's Regional Rail service.

Power outages hit Montgomery County hardest, with more than 10,000 customers still affected by around 8 p.m. Several thousand customers in Philadelphia, Delaware and Chester Counties were also impacted by the outages.

SEPTA announced a slew of canceled trains and delays, including as much as 60-minute wait for riders using the Paoli-Thorndale lane. Downed wires resulted in the suspension of the Fox Chase and Chestnut Hill East lines, which were expected back up and running during the 8:00 p.m. hour.

The FAA's ground stop at Philadelphia International Airport was lifted shortly after 7 p.m.

Up-to-date information on the status of these outages can be found on PECO's outage map.
