Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services is bolstering its efforts to aid pregnant women addicted to opioids, Newsworks reports.
The statewide initiative, which Newsworks said will launch in the new year, will help better connect pregnant addicts with recovery resources, including supporting the use of subutex, found through a study to being better results to newborns of addicts than methadone.
Subutex will be offered by 20 health care providers across Pennsylvania that have both a high volume of deliveries and substance abuse cases, Newsworks said.
