The Little Caesars Arena in Detroit had a little taste of hell Sunday night. Not actual hell, but WWE’s version. Hell in a Cell emanated from the aforementioned venue, hosting its first-ever WWE pay-per-view.

The Staples Center in Los Angeles hosted WWE’s No Mercy pay-per-view event on Sunday night. Last year, No Mercy was a SmackDown Live branded show, so this year’s show had a bit of a different taste to it.

One of professional wrestling’s best announcers of all time broke the news late Sunday afternoon. Jim Ross tweeted, “The news of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan’s passing today gutted me. I loved our time together. No one ever did it better than the Wease.”

The “biggest party of the summer” once again took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sunday night as WWE brought SummerSlam to the northeast for the third year in a row. For three years, the main roster had an opportunity to outshine its colleagues in NXT after NXT tore down the house the night before with TakeOver. This night would be no different.

The last time WWE held a pay-per-view in Philly in July was in 2013, so Sunday night when they came back in the heat of summer, the Philly crowd was as raucous as ever. Seeing the likes of AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, John Cena, Randy Orton, The New Day, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, the WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal, and more really seemed to inject electricity in the crowd as I entered the Wells Fargo Center.

The first annual Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view – yes, that’s the real name of the pay-per-view … I know – emanated from the American Airlines Center in Dallas Sunday night. Headlined by what many viewed as a monumental matchup between Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe for the WWE Universal Championship, the card from top to bottom was pretty stacked.

The Scottrade Center in St. Louis was the epicenter for SmackDown’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view on Sunday night. It’s been one of the most important nights on the WWE pay-per-view calendar as the audience gets a preview at who likely will become a WWE Champion and SmackDown Women’s Champion in the near future.
