With Thanksgiving one week away, it’s time to reflect on things we are thankful for in our lives. We spend an enormous amount of time discussing the negatives of Philadelphia sports but this is a perfect opportunity to express gratitude for the positives. My instinctual role as an optimist has fought this opinion for the last year and a half, but as we watch this football season spiral into a whole bunch of questions about injuries, locker room issues and questionable play calling by the head coach, I’m becoming more convinced the tide could be turning in Philadelphia.

The Eagles vs. Cowboys rivalry could be compared to the cheesesteak or the Liberty Bell.
The rivalry has deep roots in the city of Philadelphia and has been nationally ranked to be the greatest NFL rivalry of all time. While the past is the past and there are numerous examples of the depth of the hatred in Philly, is the hate still as valid as it was say, even 15 years ago?

After 11 days of deliberation, a decision has been made on the fate of the Phillies manager Gabe Kapler — fired, after a tumultuous two-year rollercoaster at the helm of an organization so desperate to appease their fan base that their owner seems to be making his decisions based, at least in part, on what they want.

The future seemed so bright in February yet, here we are again. In 2011 the Phillies finished first in the NL East and touted “The Four Aces” — Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt (typing this sentence is making me depressed). A lot has changed since 2011 so let’s take a trip down memory lane to remember what life was like the last time the Phillies made the playoffs, shall we?
