The Flyers won last night, which means the Capitals didn’t.
Sports apparel retailer Fanatics apparently didn’t get the memo, though. Before Wednesday’s game had even ended, they sent out an email before the game ended, “Caps Sweep! One Step Closer To The Cup.” Here it is:

As we have established, the Caps didn’t sweep. The President’s Trophy winners have an excellent chance of closing out the Flyers in five on Friday night back at home, but they definitely didn’t sweep. It is fact. This email would have been more accurate:
And some Caps fans were understandably unhappy:
Seriously @Fanatics This was in my email 40 mins before game ended #Caps #CapitalsTalk #Jinxed pic.twitter.com/K6XwHffcYd

Maybe the person who sent the email is a Philly fan who believes in the power of the reverse jinx. If those same people get a “Caps in 5!” email on Friday night when the Flyers are clinging to third period lead, we’ll know for sure.
