Surveillance video captured a stranger’s life-saving actions to save a stranger who had fallen onto the SEPTA subway tracks Wednesday evening.

The video, obtained by Action News, first shows the fall victim, Alfred McNamee, tripping near the SEPTA platform's yellow line causing his to tumble five feet below onto the tracks of the westbound Market-Frankford El tracks at 15th Street Station.

Seconds later, 28-year-old Charles Collins of South Philadelphia sprung into action and jumped onto the tracks to retrieve McNamee, whose age and hometown haven’t been released. Other witnesses then helped pull the two to safety.

According to Action News, McNamee was transported to the hospital and suffered a broken back, a shattered knee, broken ribs, and a severe injury to his spleen that may require surgery.
