A South Jersey middle school went into lockdown mode shortly before 11 a.m. on Wednesday as a result of an anonymous threat reported earlier in the morning.
The school, Henry C. Beck Middle School in Cherry Hill, Camden County, issued an alert about the lockdown on its website on Wednesday, explaining that police were on site and outlining the procedures that were put into place as a result of the lockdown.
Procedures include prohibiting anyone from entering or exiting the building and having students and staff remain in their classrooms in silence with the lights off and classroom doors and windows secured.
An alert, issued by the school's principal, said all students were later "relocated, out of sight."
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., police determined that the threat was not credible and the lockdown would be lifted when students were dismissed as scheduled at 3 p.m.
The Cherry Hill Police Department will continue to investigate the source of the threat.
