A South Jersey man has received a life sentence for killing his father and burying him under the rear porch of their home, CBSPhilly reports.
In March, a Cumberland County jury convicted 39-year-old Dreu Ferguson Jr. of aggravated manslaughter, tampering with evidence and desecrating or concealing human remains.
Ferguson killed his 58-year-old father, Dreu Ferguson Sr., in May 2009 after an argument over the lid of a teapot, according to authorities.
According to prosecutors, the Millville man buried his father in lime and fertilizer under their back porch. However, a forensic pathologist who testified for the defense suggested that the man may have died of natural causes.
Ferguson was convicted of murder in West Virginia in 2008 after allegedly shooting a neighbor. However, the conviction was overturned on appeal, the Courier-Post reports.
