A mix of snow and ice coated Philadelphia Saturday morning, leaving slippery conditions for drivers and pedestrians.
By 6 a.m., about an inch of snow had accumulated but was mostly cleared on main thoroughfares in Center City. The snow had changed to sleet around the same time.
By 8:30 a.m. the sleet and freezing rain had turned into regular rain, and a slushy mix coated the roads and sidewalks.A Winter Weather Advisory had been issued by the National Weather Service, as dangerous driving conditions and potential power outages were anticipated. That advisory expired at 11 a.m.
The snow and ice will create treacherous driving conditions and possibly scattered power outages, according to the NWS.
