Sly Fox Brewing Company raises $4000 for the Schuylkill River Trail

Money will go to expanding, maintaining river trail

A good pint of ale never fails to lift your spirits. And as it turns out, it can help the environment too.

Sly Fox Brewery, based in Pottstown, announced on Tuesday that it had raised $4,018 for the Schuylkill River Trail through sales of its SRT Ale seasonal beer.

The money will go to trail improvements, maintenance and expansion. The Schuylkill River Greenway Association dreams of one day expanding the trail a full 130 miles between Philadelphia and Pottsville; so far, over 60 miles of the trail are ready.

“We count on great community partners like Sly Fox to help us continue expanding and improving the Schuylkill River Trail,” said Silas Chamberlin, Executive Director of the Schuylkill River Heritage Area.

The ale, described as "golden, delicious, hop-forward American Pale Ale," was available from April to September. Sly Fox launched their special beer on Earth Day with a six-day spree where two members of the Sly Fox team kayaked, biked, walked and rode horses along the river to raise awareness for the trail.
