Slots revenue at Pa. casinos rises in April

Slot machine revenues at state casinos grew year-over-year in April by 4.1 percent.

The 12 casinos, including four local facilities, reported total gross revenue of $205,894,827 generated from the play of slot machines, compared to $197,760,977 in April 2014, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

As a group, the Philadelphia-area casinos earned revenues of $74,948,553, performing better than the state average with a 5.8 percent increase year-over-year.

Tax revenue from slots play last month was $109,858,099.  

The average number of slot machines operating throughout Pennsylvania was 26,265 in April, compared to 26,527 in April 2014.

Here's how the Philadelphia-area casinos fared last month:

Parx Casino led the state in slots revenues with $32,902,679, an increase of 8.04 percent year-over-year.

Harrah's Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack, $19,153,936, an increase of 2.6 percent.

SugarHouse Casino, $16,026,286, a 6.54 percent increase.

Valley Forge Casino Resort, $6,865,651, a rise of 6.03 percent.
