Paul George suffered a bone bruise in his left knee during Monday night's preseason game, the Sixers said.

A few hours after Sixers head coach said that nine-time All-Star Paul George was headed for imaging on his left knee after suffering a hyperextension on Monday night, the Sixers said George suffered a bone bruise.

"An MRI completed today showed a bone bruise and no structural damage," the Sixers said. "[George] will be re-evaluated in approximately one week."

The Sixers' first regular season game -- a home contest against Giannis Antetokounmpo, Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks -- will take place in eight days from Tuesday.

Whether or not George will be ready to suit up on Oct. 23 remains to be seen, but even if he does miss the season opener, the Sixers are glad to have dodged George suffering a serious injury that could keep him out for a significant portion of the season.
