Man shot during attempted robbery in Tioga-Nicetown

A man was shot in the back during an attempted robbery Monday morning in Tioga-Nicetown, 6ABC reports.

The incident occurred before 5 a.m. on 17th Street between Erie and Pulaski avenues.

Police told 6ABC that a man had stopped at a newsstand while riding his bicycle when four men pulled up in a vehicle. One suspect got out of the car and attempted to rob the man before shooting him in the back, authorities said.

The suspects fled in the vehicle, which was last seen on Pulaski Avenue.

The victim was reportedly able to ride his bicycle several blocks before collapsing. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
