SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel confirmed that a transportation supervisor was killed Saturday morning in a crash on Roosevelt Boulevard.
The victim, identified as 52-year-old Ivan Quarterman, of Sicklerville, was involved in a crash with a woman who was driving in the right lane of the off-ramp toward I-76 eastbound at around 2:20 a.m., according to NBC 10.
Investigators say Quarterman, who was driving a 2004 BMW 325, lost control of his vehicle while driving at a high speed in the left lane and crashed into a 2006 Chevrolet Impala driven by an identified woman.
As a result of the collision, Quarterman's vehicle struck a concrete barrier on the right shoulder and overturned multiple times. Police said Quarterman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The female victim did not suffer serious injuries and no charges will be filed in the crash.
According to Nestel, Quarterman was off duty at the time of the accident.
