A second female Rowan University student reported a sexual assault within the past month on Tuesday, according to The Whit Online, the college's student newspaper.
Both incidents, the first on Oct. 14 and the most recent on Sunday, occurred in the same university dormitory, Holly Pointe Commons, which is a new dorm that opened in the fall and houses first- and second-year students.
While there's no apparent connection between the two incidents, the university issued a warning to students to be aware. In both cases, the victim and the perpetrator reportedly met on friendly terms.
In the first case, the college student said a “college-aged male” she met on the street after a party offered to walk her home to Holly Pointe Commons, and later, once inside, he sexually assaulted her.
In Sunday’s incident, the victim said she met the assailant in an elevator in the dorm building and was later sexually assaulted in her room after having invited him back.
Both of these cases were reported by The Whit Online based on police reports and a warning email sent from the university to students.
