XPN will host the Second Annual Hidden River Blues Festival on Aug. 13 at Manayunk's Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center. The all-day blues festival begins at 11 a.m., with headliners Charlie Musselwhite and Samantha Fish performing from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Musselwhite has been nominated for 35 Blues Music Awards (with three wins in 2014) and 11 Grammy nominations (including a 2014 win). Musselwhite was also reportedly the inspiration for Dan Aykroyd’s character in "The Blues Brothers."
Samantha Fish received a nomination for the 2016 Blues Music Award for Best Contemporary Blues Female Artist and received a Blues Music Award for Best New Artist Debut in 2011.
Tickets to the family-friendly music fest are $25 per person. All attendees will receive wristbands so they can explore Main Street in Manayunk where restaurants, bars and shops are located.
A variety of food vendors and a beer garden will be set up next to Venice Island, as well, for those who don't want to miss a minute of the local and national blues acts through the day.
