The Piazza has a new name (Schmidt's Commons), a new events coordinator (Krystal Souvanlasy) and new programming. One of the newest events coming up is the Ultimate Summer Cookout on Aug. 21, which is aiming to become an annual end-of-summer neighborhood tradition.
The all-day, family-friendly event begins at noon and is free to attend.
Besides classic lawn games, there will be something for those bummed that Slide the City didn't come (again) this summer.
A water slide and a slip 'n' slide will be on-site, plus a zip line.
Not into heights or water activities? Shop for hand-made and unique goods from local vendors, dance to DJ music, watch the West Philadelphia Orchestra perform or dine on summer food and drinks from neighborhood restaurants.
The event will go on rain or shine.
