From Saturday, Feb. 28, to Sunday, March 8, the Pennsylvania Convention Center will be flush with fresh blooms. The theme for the 2015 show is "Celebrate the Movies," and PHS is going all out to wow audiences with movie magic.
It all starts with a grand entrance garden (shown above), where show-goers will find themselves walking down a red carpet and into an Art Deco movie palace. The facade comes complete with 200 lights, juniper and palm trees, chandeliers, a 29-foot-high marquee and a high-def screen showing short-film entries for the show's "What is Beauty?" competition.
Once inside, guests will enjoy floral and garden design displays featuring their favorite Disney and Disney-Pixar films. Exhibitors have allowed movies like "Frozen," "Cars," "Cinderella," "Pirates of the Caribbean" and more to inspire their landscapes.
As if that weren't enough, this year's show includes 17 places to dine and two specialty cocktails named for "7-Year Itch" and "Casablanca." PHS is bringing back its popular Pop Up Garden for the show called "The Backlot," and the cinema-themed restaurants include The Dusty Saddle Saloon, The Malt Shop and Legends Speakeasy.
Celebrities Dan Aykroyd and Ethan Wayne, son of John Wayne, will appear during the show, and "The Butterfly Experience," an interactive educational exhibit, is back with more than 1,000 butterflies. Plus, keep an eye out for themed nights, like the LGBT Party, Wedding Wednesday, Girls Night Out and Fido Friday all week long.
