There had been rumors and speculation circling that former Phillies general manger Ruben Amaro, Jr. wanted to get into coaching. The $64,000 question was where someone who spent his entire post-playing career in the front office could realistically begin.
According to Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe, we have our answer:
There’s no way to spin the news except to say that the move is a major step down. Taking a glance at the Phillies’ tentative 2016 schedule, the Boston Red Sox don’t appear at all on it. Man, what a spectacle that would have been.
