Opening Scene: Table set with plates and silverware. Candles burning. Flowers. Couple sits across from each other eating.
Feels like we've seen this movie before. A lot. Let's break with tradition this Valentine's Day. The most romantic meal can be a few fresh ingredients, a cutting board and a sharp knife served Moroccan-style on the floor. Add to that shaved chocolates, honey and glazes to garnish your meals and you’ve got the recipe for a memorable Valentine's Day. With that in mind here is a 3-course dinner that will require no silverware and can all be eaten off a shared plate or whatever you want as a plate. Pull your baby close, grab the honey and get sticky.

Cheese and honey are a fantastic combination that can be done hot or cold. Blue, Brie, Goat and Riccotta are all great served cold or toasted on a crostini and drizzled with honey (if hot, drizzle after removing from oven). For this platter we will go with some more mild cheeses and serve them at room temperature. Parmigiano-Reggiano, Asiago, Manchego, Fontina, and other aged cheeses are all great options. This recipe can be prepared ahead of time or done with a partner sharing a knife, cutting board and these ingredients.
Cheese and Honey Platter
Serves 2
You will need:
4oz. Asiago
4oz. Parmigiano-Reggiano
1 bottle of honey
Kosher salt
1 green apple
1 red apple
1 pear
1 link smoked sausage
Cut cheeses 1/2 inch by 1 inch or bite-sized pieces, your preference. Slice fruits into thin wedges. Cut sausage into 1/4-inch ovals on a bias. Place cheese on top of fruit or sausage (like it was a cracker) and drizzle with honey. Top with a very light pinch of salt.
