A road map to tackling National French Fry Day in Philadelphia

Salty, crispy, eat-with-your hands, fried (sometimes baked) bite-sized potato pieces that equally appeal to the taste buds of greasy-fingered toddlers and food-snob adults.
We’re talking about french fries.
Today, July 13, is National French Fry Day, according to Twitter’s trending hashtags, and it's been verified by Google.
To celebrate, we've gathered a collection of five Philadelphia eateries that attract crowds thanks, in part, to their fries.
Philly also has a few french fry bars (you read that right) that are expected to open any day. So, maybe just extend National French Fry Day. We approve.

In addition to several restaurant locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Chickie's & Pete's Crabfries can also be purchased at several other venues in the city, including Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, the Wells Fargo Center and, a first this summer, Spruce Street Harbor Park.

The Grey Lodge Pub in Northeast Philly serves its "Best of Philly" fries hand-cut and made fresh daily. It also sells truffle fries for an extra buck, and according to reviewers, they're well worth it.

Philly has a claim to a lot of foodie concoctions, and gravy fries are one of them. That's brown gravy ladled over french fries, which is sold at several Philadelphia establishments, but is done right at Nick's Old Original Roast Beef Restaurant in South Philadelphia.
It's a messy dish, and not particularly pretty in presentation, but it makes up for all that in taste. Promise.
