As noted here a month ago, the Redskins are going to be an absolute dumpster fire this season. Over the last two seasons, the Redskins have had the worst point differential (-281) and worst turnover differential (-20) in the NFC, and they've given up the most touchdowns (112) in the NFL.
In games Robert Griffin III played the majority of the snaps in 2014, the Redskins went 1-6. He threw four TD passes on the season, was picked off 6 times, fumbled 9 times and was sacked 33 times. 33 sacks in seven games! He had a TD-sack ratio (not that that's a real stat) of 4 to 33. And yet, for some ungodly reason, the Redskins named RG3 their starter... in February.
In their second preseason game against the Lions, RG3 took an absolute beating. On eight dropbacks, he was 2 of 5 for 8 yards, with 3 sacks, and 6 hits taken. But those stats don't even tell the story of how bad it was. A recap, in gif form:
• Here' the #5 overall pick in the 2015 draft, Brandon Scherff, getting bulldozed back into Griffin for a sack.
• Batted pass, but hey, at least he didn't get hit here.
• Griffin gets destroyed by a Lions linebacker coming on a delayed blitz.
• Yanked to the ground like he weighs 30 pounds.
Another sack.
And cue the Benny Hill music.
The eight Redskins fans in attendance booed after that last play, and Griffin left with a concussion. The Redskins might be the worst team in the NFL this year.
