The rates at eight of Center City's parking garages are about to get a bit higher starting next month.

The Philadelphia Parking Authority made the decision in September, shortly after Executive Director Vince Fenerty's resignation. During the Sept. 29 meeting, the PPA board approved a proposal for 170 parking spots underneath the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and a rate hike for a handful of Center City parking garages and lots, PlanPhilly reported.

The increases, which will take effect Nov. 1, vary. Daily rates in the garages increased by about a dollar.

“Costs to operate these facilities, the cost to maintain them continue to escalate, we have to make sure they’re self-funding. We don’t have any other revenue source to pay the bills,” Rick Dickson, the PPA's interim co-executive director, told CBSPhilly.

The news station also got a hold of the increased rates at all eight locations:

•10th and Ludlow streets: One hour rates increase from $12.50 to $13, up to 24 hour rates increase from $20.50 to $22, monthly rates increase from $210 to $215

•Family Court: One hour rates increase from $11.50 to $13, up to 24 hour rates will remain at $28, monthly rates increase from $333 to $335
