Reported South Philadelphia abduction actually part of rap video shoot

Witnesses spotted two men throw another man into the trunk of a car on Broad Street and Snyder Avenue

What appeared to be an abduction taking place in South Philadelphia Wednesday evening was actually a scene for a rap video, according to those involved.

NBC10, which broke the story, reported that witnesses alerted police of two men who appeared to throw a third man into the trunk of a car on Broad Street and Snyder Avenue around 7 p.m. Wednesday and then drive away. Witnesses also described the make, color and potential model of the car as a gold Chevy, possibly an Impala.

Police immediately began investigating and soon learned the scene did, in fact, happen, but that it wasn’t a real abduction but rather “part of a hip-hop video being filmed at the location.”

Police added that the three men involved in the mock abduction went to the Special Victims Unit to explain the situation.

No charges have been filed.
