Before the NFL season started, there was at least some thought that Tony Romo would lead the Dallas Cowboys into The Linc for an important Week 17 clash against the Eagles.

Well, things haven’t exactly turned out that way. The game is not important at all — Dallas has clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, while the Eagles are out —and the Cowboys are Dak Prescott’s team. Romo has not taken a snap at all season.
But according to ESPN, Romo is expected to see some action against the Eagles along with another old friend in Mark Sanchez:
Tony Romo is expected to see game action for the first time since Thanksgiving 2015 when the Dallas Cowboys end the 2016 regular season Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, sources told ESPN.
Dak Prescott will start, attempting to set the NFL record for wins in a season by a rookie quarterback. Romo and Mark Sanchez are expected to play, but it has not been determined how long they will do so.
Earlier in the week, the plan was for Sanchez to get the backup snaps behind Prescott.
Romo has been seriously injured in three of the last five games he has played in, starting in Week 2 last year when Jordan Hicks’ (clean) hit broke his collarbone.
There isn’t too much buzz coming into this final game of the season, and for good reason. But if we get the return of Romo at some point, an otherwise meaningless game will assuredly attract some eyeballs.
